The Endangered Swift Parrot (Lathamus discolor) breeds in Tasmania and flies to the eastern States of mainland Australia every year. Their migratory path might take them past your front door. Find out more about the Swift Parrot including information on identification, its migratory behaviour, its habitat on and what you can do to help protect this species. This documentary was produced in 2007 by the Swift Parrot Recovery Team and the Department of Environment and Climate Change, NSW.
Beautifully done and I appreciate how hard it is to film this species as I had no end to trouble getting close to them on Bruney Island, Tassie

I believe these rare birds are often seen near Melbourne Zoo and a few years ago they were seen in a Spotted Gum in a back yard in my area!

what a beautiful bird. If you live in Bendigo, let's all grow ironbark and keep the little guy going.
