Using my chorus chords and the original verse chords as provided by PGrizzlie. Much different than my original submission and a bit less "rockin" and more "I miss you" but I felt it was worth submitting.

  • I kinda feel like re-recording this at 130 or 135 BPM. Maybe I will if I get time. I'm just anxious to see what Rivers does with all of the material. No response for the past 2 weeks.

  • This is very good. I really love the transition between the laid back verses and the more rawk chorus. can you state the chords, because I am too dumb to know if we're still using the original stuff or if this is new. Gracias.

  • Intro, in order, Eminor, Gminor, Dminor7, C#minor (or thereabouts). This is basically Pgrizzlie's progression from way back in step 4/5 or so. There was a small "loop" that Rivers wanted to use. He said he was a "sucker for that feeling" so I wanted to build on that. My chorus chords are D, (quick G to F#) to Em, Gminor7, back to D (or thereabouts). Honestly, I play more by ear and "feel" and I don't read music well, so pardon if some of those are not completely accurate.

  • I love how the bass interacts with the chords in the 4th chord of the verse sequence. Swizzle.

  • Thanks. I really tried to think about how everything interacted, hence the chord change in the verse. It didn't feel right before, plus it's easier to sing over now.

  • One of the few responses I really liked.

In response to kimballwhiting's comment about Weezer-esque arcs, it's Weezer-worthy material in my eyes - or should I say ears?

  • Also I think the "I miss you" quality of the music would work well by undercutting the literal, over-the-top lyrics, so that the song becomes more about trying to remember a moment in the past. It's pretty sophisticated, but not in a stuck-up or brainy way.

  • The best thing about it, above all else, is that this version finally makes you want to bounce around and dance a little bit. It has a bit of springiness to it and isn't so relentlessly flat like the other submissions.

  • Smoooove! Excellent integrative work.

  • As great as Weezer is, they didn't invent the 'humble beginning with over the top finish.' They did, however, invent the guitar.

  • i like the lack of vocals seriously, no sarcasm. Most of the other versions induce extreme vomiting. i also like the weezer-esque arc of the song - humble beginning with an over the top finish - which you pulled off in fine style. The picture of Bill and Ted though, is by far the most masterful touch.
