First, I am not affliated with the Companie de l'Unicorne. My opinon here is my own (and I can be blunt when I think it may be helpful). I was impressed with the book and this play.

My wife and I were glad to meet Natacha Sardou and David Blanc during a month we spent in Paris in November, 2011. Natacha is a talented playwright, author, and actress. David's music compositions for this play sounds so appropriate for the story's scenes. No wonder these two talented artistes have a nice little hit on their hands with Princesse Rose. To think that only these two people wrote, composed, and perform this production is proof of their capabilities to captivate young audiences.

This is an excellent play for children aged four to ten. That is evident in at least two scenes shown in this video when the children spontaneously react outloud to the Princesse's dilemmas. It is easy to see the children are engaged and entranced by this delightful story and have connected with the excellently created characters and story. The play is augmented by the book and is full of fine illustrations by Laura Tran Binh. Young readers can begin their love of reading here.

The play has been well received and most recently by the French critics during the Noel season -- the toughest critics being the young short ones in the audiences.
Having met Natacha (and seen her walls of books!) I would not be surprised if, one day, she creates a character in the French tradition that resonates as well as Tintin or The Little Prince. Apparently, there is a part of childhood that is constantly fresh in her mind that she nourishes and calls upon. And that's what it takes
