  • PURPLE PANTS RULE! Go gordo!!!

  • They changed the face of live music for the most part, the only other band to do so in such a HUGE way was the Grateful Dead. (also receieved a Lifetime Acheev award from Jammys)

They did more in their 17 years of exsistence then many bands did in a "lifetime".

They most certainly deserve an award for this IN the Jam Band scene. End of story.

Thanks for all the great comments, it was awesome to see them again. Classy thing to all show up, many have NOT done so at Jammys in the past.

  • @sruckoldt dude they basically took over the jam scene and kept it alive after jerry garcia died. Also, if you listen to any jam music post phish you can hear so much influence from the band. Also, they were a band that came out of an era when 80s glam rock was popular and survived through the backstreet boys and spice girls. They kept music alive through its hardest years. They also have created music that can live up to the standards of great composers who weren't afraid to try new things.

  • @sruckoldt A thousand dollar-question. I've got the time if you've got the inclination, so cheer up...

  • Shhhhhhhhhhh!

  • The crowd is just oozing with stupidity. Someone earlier on said "they hate their fans." If I had fans who would hoot and wooh and clap the entire time that I was trying to convey something to them, I'd get pretty sick of them. Do they hate the fans? No, I highly doubt it. Are they sick to death of the fans general stupidity? I should hope so, considering something as ridiculous as this incident!

  • I don't how much Phish actually did to 'change the face of music.' They pretty much did what the Dead did before them, just with a different sound. Then again, is anything REALLY new?

  • Wow this is awesome to see these guys on the stage together again. I cried when phish broke up. I miss them. When the do a reunion tour, (and they will) it is gonna be HUGE!

  • you dont need to be old to have life expierence, coming from an "older" person, that wasnt such an intelligent response. Idc about what you say, phish defiantely deserved a lifetime achievment award...just because theyre music isnt 40 years old yet, doesnt mean they didnt achieve what a band would want to achieve in their "lifetime" and i think thats what this award is all about....4 guys from vermont who loved jamming kicked off were the dead stopped, and created their own breed...enough said

  • Well, yeah, of course jammy's over grammy's.

A band like Cream, as I said had lasting impact that is still going strong (though it's safe to say Clapton's solo career probably aided with that); The Doors, who were around for 4 years. The epitome would be Hendrix, I guess. And yes, I think a reunion is inevitable - if not this decade, then the next one. At some point the boys are going to have to replenish their bank accounts. Let's face it - Phish royalties can only amount to so much.
