TAB AVAILABLE READ ON...every Aussie fingerpicker needs to have a Chisel number in their belt, I didn't until I put in 2 weeks of effort on this one. It is a quieter Cold Chisel piece, by Don Walker, and suits fingerstyle well. I arranged it Naudo style which, as those who have been following my work, know that I'm right into :)
Points of note: * I didn't bother with the intro or outtro, well not for now. I just wanted the basic tune down. Maybe later, after all, the intro is a signature riff to this song.
* I didn't actually play it as well as I would have liked, but I had put pressure on myself to get it out. This was the best take out of 4 attempts, if you ever see me play it live it will sound a lot better I'm sure :)
* Mossy has been playing this in his shows recently, he gave me a bit of inspiration into doing this piece. Thanks Mossy! Thanks also Don, great song, meaning is a bit dark though. And yeah, thanks Barnsey, if you hadn't have "crooned" this one it might never have found its way into Aussie folklore ;)
* Yeah, I got a bit more fancy in the video production this time...I hung a sheet in the background ;) Hopefully it will be a bit less distracting than my messy shed, although it didn'tstop the light from reflecting off my forehead!
* I've just about zoned into my new guitar. I have realised that I need strings with more tension though. The nylon is working out great, but after many years of playing steel I'm a bit rough on them. Perhaps I might ease back after a while...perhaps high tension nylon strings will do the job.

...but the best bit is that you know the song, and you want to learn it. I'm glad that at least a few people are enjoying my fingerstyle arrangements of Aussie classics! :) JAW
Yep, pretty much any child of the 70's in Aus will know this tune, but approximately zero from the rest of the world will. You are indeed one of the few that makes it "approximately zero" rather than "exactly zero" ;)
Love Cold Chisel! I must be one of the few Americans who were fortunate enough to discover this band in the late '70's. "Choir Girl", "Standing on the Outside Looking In", "You Got Nothing I Want", "Bow River", "Khe Sanh" , "My Baby" and "Forever Now", some of the best tunes ever!
pretty impressive.. I have commented before on your (Canon) song.. Now that i see your quite the picker...Have you tried (Malaguena Salerosa) I prefer to hear it on a classical guitar. But it sounds good either way. Keep it up!! your awesome!
Malaguena - one of the first songs I learnt as a kid, and then learnt a more complex version later on...and can still play today. Not played for many years though; I bet it wouldn't be a problem, funny how songs lock into the memory forever...whereas I can't remember what I did yesterday ;) JAW
