potting with side is not as easy as it looks, the side must be allowed for , usually by actually aiming to miss the pot.
this must be learnt by each player, as there is advanced guesswork involved.

  • Great video, does the same things apply when you play it with topsin and side spin and screwback and side spin or is that different altogether?

  • @Karlos360Ace Hi there, Yes you will need to change your aiming, this means you will need to allow for everything you put on the cueball . cheers,Kevin.

  • if i use right side in the above case were should i move my aim?

    to right or left?

  • @01127672222 Hi there Karan, in the case of this video you would need to aim very slightly closer towards the left side of the center of the object-ball (using right hand side on the cueball ) because right side has the effect of pushing the object-ball to the left.

What really happens is the cueball pushes out to the left when the tip strikes before coming back on-line & striking the object -ball , so has the "effect" of changing the red's direction, but it is only the cueballs arc...K

  • @SUPERIOR124555 Hi there, just think logically for just one moment... so what your friend is saying is that he can get "perfect " position on every stroke ? so he does not use side? well say that to any professional player & they would laugh.. perfect position is the holy grail of snooker & without some form of side it would simply not be possible to hold , or infact gain position to make a large break, let alone a 147.. . thanks for the taking the time to post aquestion, cheers,Kevin

  • @kevy62 Someone from my local snooker told me that you should never use sidespin when your break building

  • @harrry303 Hi there, thanks for the kind words & taking the time to post a comment. cheers,Kevin.

  • Nice video mate, concise explanation. There's a Jimmy White instructional video that pretty much just says "put some side-spin on the cueball, pot the object ball, and bob's your uncle." Useless.

  • @motley0crue12 Hi there, actually I'm aiming just about on the right side knuckle. However this might not be the correct aiming point for you , as all cues have a different amount of throw (deflection) this is the amount over a given distance which the cueball "throws" away from the object-ball before coming back on-line & making contact with it. You will need to play hundreds of shots with the same cue to learn it's "throw" but when you do, your game will expand by tonnes... cheers K.

  • So with the shot you just played, with right hand side on the cue ball, are you aiming dead centre in pocket still? or the jaws? if so, which one?
