Read up on Nuclear Pulse Propulsion. By the time we are ready to make the trip I'd imagine even more advanced propulsion systems will be developed.

at the current rate of technological advancement..we will probably be way beyond space stations in the 28th century..Orbs of light flying around the universe and maybe even other universes.
