The C5 is capable of carrying more than is generally published since it has on many occasions carried 2x M1A1's at 139,800 pounds apiece plus fuel/crew etc. across the Atlantic. What these aircraft can carry isn't so much "classified" or anything like that, but a matter of *fatiguing* the airframe. For example, the C141 was retired earlier than planned because the war in 1991 sucked the remaining servicable life out of them.

Not more powerful- about the same rated thrust C5M vs. AN124. But:

C5 has a better kneeling system, is air to air refuelable, has a better system for palatized loading with floor rollers, is capable of air drops, has a pressurized underbelly (not the AN - i.e. no troops or livestock at altitude), has better avionics, and for the same load uses less fuel. How much both carry largely depends on how much fuel they carry.
