BOB DOWNE (the comic creation of Mark Trevorrow) spent the 90s based in London. Here he is creating a riot on British host DES O'CONNOR's talk variety show in January 1996. Bob and Des chat on the couch before Bob sings and dances a wild, swinging version of Harry Connick Jr's WE ARE IN LOVE - with a great studio band, led by Musical Director RAY MONK.

  • Hi Mark. I met you once after a gig (small south london affair). You and I ended up defending Bob to a bunch of unconvinced guys.

  • @ppauly ...Oh, there's still a few of them around!! ;-) hehe

Are you coming to my Edinburgh previews at the Royal Vauxhall Tavern? Next Thurs 7th, then Thurs 14th, then Wed 20th? First London shows in 4 years!

  • he was a

    funny guy .

  • WAS...??

    ;-) hehe

  • God, i'm so SKINNY! It must've been before I discovered Marks & Spencer food hall. And dear old Des! I didn't have the heart to tell him 'my talk show', GOOD MORNING MURWILLUMBAH is just pretend... hehe ;-) lol

Meanwhile, i LOVED Des's studio band - London has truly great jazz musicians. BOB (MARK) x

  • A wizard a true star, and so is Des.

  • Hey Bob! I love this clip, always brings a smile to my face! I wish you could upload it in better quality, then I would smile even more!

  • Aw two of my fave men together :)

  • @metariane

But I tell you what - he was great to work with. He just let you do your stuff!

  • Can't make it I'm afraid - but the best of luck. x

  • Great cutting banter, almost Dame Edna when she was a bit younger, good job and I did laugh as did Des.

  • The genius is that you clearly love the music, which gives a solid core for the comedy, as you can improvise around the tune. It's lovely to watch. :-)
