  • Easier said than done when i'm trying to do this with my labrador :-)

Very good video...loved the music you put with it too!

  • Have just checked out your vid Emma. Your dog is lovely. You are luring with food already (which is good) but I just think you are going for too much too soon. The reward of the food needs to be better too (more than one sweetie) - lot's of sweeties but count them out individually - let the dog now how many sweets they are getting - count each one as you give them - try throwing the food aswell (food circuit) as then the dog is running for the reward too :-).

  • Thanks for advice, So instead of giving one treat when she does well, I give her more? So it's a bigger reward so she's more likely to be good again?

  • Exactly Emma - you're getting the idea of what motivational training is all about. If ever you feel she hasn't tried hard enough you withold the reward & tease her with it. If she does try hard you give her bonus rewards :-)

  • P.S. - Am going to see The Prodigy tonight in Brighton - Yippeee ;-)

  • Linda isn't on here so I will answer how i teach it. When the dog is young it is taught by the lure of food or a toy that if you look up you will get rewarded, then as the dog gets older & is taught a head position they realise that to get the reward they have to amintain the position. short & sweet but I hope that gives you an idea :-)

  • Is there any way you can put me in touch with Linda Rutherford via email? My name is Petra Ford. I am from the US and competed in the 2010 World Cup Obedience at Crufts. I briefly met her there. I am considering returning in 2012. Would love to ask her a few questions, if she wouldn't mind. Thank you!!

  • Absolutely lovely!! The heeling is just perfect... I'm getting chills watching this!!! Thank you for sharing! Linda is an AMAZING trainer!
