I like this series, well done by a good cast, with the ambiance of the 70s. Only, I didn't understand the last line in this episode...what was Mike refering to when he said he wanted for christmas a coat for his back and a pair of shoes for his feet?

I did some research work only to find out that there is some kind of a probably well known fairy tale about the ant and the silly cricket, who wanted to lend for winter time a coat for his back, shoes for his feet and a shelter from the rain, and a mouthful of grain. A very careless cricket ;) I suppose what Mike is trying to do is simply a clown trick, so Laura won't be upset with his childhood memories. Just guessing...
