From Lacrosse Magazine's "Your Edge" series, US Lacrosse's own Rob Scherr flashes handiwork between the pipes. The two-time MLL all-star goalie demonstrates the proper hand position, stick position and grip.
@greeengoddess I understand what you mean. As high school goalie I hate to try to catch the ball thats going wide, but I have caused a few transition goals off of it. transition for my team I mean, and it's because the other team expects you to let it go and then you catch it and yell "Clear" Or "Break" Depending on what your team uses, and you send the ball perfectly to a teammate who goes down and scores or they get an assist. but it's a judgement call on your part. I try to catch all of them.
If you're that tall, why would you put your top hand (and the head of your stick) that high? the top of the head comes above the goal. It seems completely unnecessary (if a ball goes above the cage, why would you need to catch it?), and it seems you could be more rescourceful by keeping it so your head is where ever it needs to be based on your height. That's just my opinion. i agreed with everything else he said about wrist movement and whatnot. I'm a high school goalie
