@FlyingAce1016 And again, the blame is placed in the wrong area. If there's an application you enjoy that doesn't work on Linux, it has nothing to do with Linux. It has everything to do with the software developers refusing to port it to Linux.
The "free knockoff apps" you refer to are generally either community created and supported alternatives, or commercial alternatives.

Good vid. Have been disappointed with Ubuntu since 10.04 & gone back to 9.10. This distro seems to fall flat also. Seems Gimp is still missing & they have done nothing to include & update Banshee & get it to a point to where it really competes with & outclasses Win Media Player 11. -- Now they also need to upgrade F-Spot and Gimp to at least include Watermark functions. Will stay with 9.10 & hope I do not get pulled back to Windows to get these important features. Ubuntu stuck in the mud.

I new to Linux and looks like you are like a professional... When I go to forum I don't get anything, I don't understand any of that stuff. Can you do a tutorial teaching basic, useful Commands for Linux. I use Fedora 15, I don't know if the commands are the same for every linux distro but, can you please do one tutorial like that? Please???

can you help me? every time i try to load up linux from a cd it brings up a "can not moun/dev/loop0 (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squa
shfs) on // filesystem.squashfs" error. what do i do? make a new cd? -
@AfterShockPivot hm, good to know. Of course when I ran Steam, I installed it through Wine itself, without using PlayOnLinux.
-
@thisweekinlinux I'm sure the graphics card isn't the problem, and I've heard other people have gotten the same problems as me.
-
@AfterShockPivot Not sure about Gang Garrison, but Steam worked decently for me. Might be due to your graphics card? (just a guess).
-
@thisweekinlinux I can't get Gang Garrison 2 to work, I checked the Application Database and found the same problems I've had. Also I can't get Steam to work, I installed it with PlayOnLinux and every time I try to open Steam it's so slow I can't even type or move windows.
can i access and run all the files and apps i already have on my xp os?

@popflickcatchland as long as you don't completely wipe out the XP installation, you should be able to access the files, but you probably won't be able to run the applications. Linux does things differently than Windows. There may be alternatives to the applications you want to use, or if they're open source, there may be native versions (like Firefox).
