The issue with crossfire/sli on dual gpu card sis not the cards it is the bandwidth in the motherboard and cpu most are limited to 16 pcie lanes so each slot gets just 8 pcie lanes leaving each gpu with just pcie x4 bandwidth.
The new ivybridge line allows better scaling on dual 2xgpu cards because ivybridge supports true 16x16 pcie bandwidth, heck even a single x2 card would benefit greatly
I would be interested to see how these older quad gpu set ups fare on true 16x16 pcie hardware.

@locknload141 your an idiot for saying that... Dual GPU's are more than useful on one moniter! e.g 2 x 6870's will beat a GTX 580 performance easily and run BF3 maxed out on one moniter. One could not. They work simultaneously not 1 kicks in when the other gets to full load. Make sure you know what your on about before you post.

you dont need 2 Graphics cards if you running 1 monitor, Because you will only be using one of those cards, so the other card will be hardly doing anything so its a waist of money. if ur gonna go Dual Graphics go Dual monitor

really good gaming rig
but one thung is really bad
u have crossfire ati 4870x2
if u put two gpu´s , when each one have two gpu´s already , is really bad
one of your grafics card will work better than two,
my friend had the same as you , one of his gpu´s is dead,,
GUYS never put crossfire or sli , with the double gpu grafics cards.....
