Testing a PanaVise 809-EXT mount with a Canon PowerShot SD1300 IS digital camera mounted on a 2008 Honda Civic Mugen Si, normal driving. The Mugen Si has Boomba Racing solid motor mounts and a header, so there is wicked interior vibration. Im surprised the mount did that well. Also, sorry about the wind noise, there was a Hurricane comming through that day.

  • What image stabilization mode did you have your camera in? I have a similar Canon and with the PanaVise mount I still get a lot of vibration. The IS in mine (SX210 IS) doesn't seem to handle it as well.

    Thanks.

  • @KNO418V Thats weird. Your camera has 2 more megapixels than mine and shoots in HD, which mine doesnt. I have my IS Mode on Continuous. If i have it off, you can see all the vibrations. This video was taken in my Mugen that has solid motor mounts (lots of vibrations). Its smooth as silk in our other vehicles. Maybe there is something wrong with the image stabilization on your camera, or how and were u mounted it, or maybe something is loose?...

  • @belizetj Just ran another quick test. I mounted the PanaVise, loosened all the connections and let the camera hang on its own (to get a neutral position). Then I tightened it up and went for a drive. The camera is on Continuous image stabilization. Funny, but right at the start of the video you can see the image stabilization oscillate a little bit. It's much worse using Dynamic image stabilization, which is probably more suited for walking around.

  • @KNO418V Hmmm. That is weird. Its almost like not having IS at all. If the suction is tight onto the windshield and everything is tight, i dont see what the problem could be. Maybe its the type of IS used in the HD camera, but i would think it would be best of the best from Canon with it being an HD camera.

  • Cool video

  • @GSRGOPEDRIDER247 Thanks

  • @madman1124 I'm also wondering if a heavier camera might dampen the vibration a bit as well. Those little handheld cameras are almost weightless these days.

  • @madman1124 Good call. We have an older Canon camera. I'll give that a go.

  • @KNO418V it may also have to do with the fact it is a higher mp and hd, you tend to see more movement even small in hd formats than in standard due to higher frame rates and higher details. you could try doing a test, same mount but with a cheaper camera, see how it fares out.

  • @belizetj I'll post a vid later today and let you have a look.
