I was born in Gary, Its a sad sad place now . Just look around -thank goodness I'm gone and I have no regrets about leaving nor have any reason to go back.

my mom saw many movies there. i feel so bad for all the people who loved gary and this is whats left of their hometown. our whole family was buried there.. including my brother.. but its too dangerous to go and check on their graves, or the home my grandparents built, and my mom grew up in. i dont even know if its still standing. my mom says "they wanted ti, and were willing to kill for it. everyone ran for their very lives. it was like chernobyl."

@fode140 Sorry I'm late. No problems with rollers. We parked on the street for the post office and the Palace. At the church we parked at the school across the street.

all that probably closed because of all the crime there
gary and has now left you should b proud of were you come from instead of downing the city just because you r embarrased by how it looks. now im a fourteen year old boy and i know that gary looks like this because the city is consistinly loosing money. and some of the buildings in gary r historical landmarks and can not b demolished 4 example the church across the street from my school that was in this video can not b demolished because of the simple fact its a historical site 4 our city. @jasmorris2010 Well said. The people of Gary I have encountered have all been extraordinarily friendly (nice contrast to the west-side of Chicago), and I respect that it's a city that has literally been to Hell and back. If the government can get their act together I strongly think the city's revitalization is on the horizon. The new housing just west of Broadway, and the restoration of the Dalton Building are both excellent indications of Gary's future. Just waiting for the Palace's turn.
