There was no Israel. Under the Ottoman Turks the Jews made up 5% of Jerusalem's population. There were more Christians than Jews in this land. Israel is not a real country and has new real history. Since the time of Rome, and onward under Byzantine and Ottoman Rule the land was always called Palestine.
