Fugue on the Kyrie, Messe à l'usage ordinaire des paroisses pour les fêtes solemnelles or Mass for Parishes, by Francois Couperin (1668-1733), one of his two major organ works written in 1690 at the age of 21. Both were masses for organ, of which this was the first and largest setting. Couperin was then organist at St. Gervais, Paris, and in 1693 was appointed royal organist to Louis XIV, the Sun King, and played at the Royal Chapel. More on Couperin at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francois_Couperin
Recorded at the First Unitarian Church on May 24, 1992; Eric Meece, organist, on the Moller organ which existed there from 1930 to1995.

  • May be you could be inspired watching on You Tube (GERAUDBENECH: Couperin fugue sur les jeux d'Anches) the same piece performed by the french organist Jérôme Benech at Rabiny's organ in Aurillac, an historical organ, one treasure of our organistic patrimony. Actually, I think it's the best performance on You Tube.

  • Unfortunately, the right title is "Fugue sur les jeux d'anches, 2° couplet du Kyrie" (Fugue on the reed stops, 2nd verse of Kyrie). This piece must be played on the reed stops of the Great Organ (Trumpet 8' + Clairon 4' (+ Voix Humaine 8' + Bourdon 8' + Doublette 2' + Nasard 2' 2/3)) (see french registration in baroque music (Art du Facteur d'orgue, Don Bédos de Celles))

  • @eameece haha now its 668 :P

  • wtf? i don't get it, but i guess i do.
