1978 as a heck of a season. girls for the first time, the introduction of the cluster drum (judges didn't like them) changing the show mid season and still kicked caviliers ass to make the big show in denver. my first and only season... thanks for the memories.
i love this vintage stuff, but whats happened to the length of the clips ? i used to watch full shows from the 70s and 80s on you tube but it seems they have vanished.can anybody tell me where to find them.
Actually, this is the drum solo version of Gino Vanelli's "The Battle Cry". Halfway through, the horn line and guard create a compact square behind the drum line we called 'The Cube'. Look carefully at 0:50 and you will see flashing lights throughout the horn line. This was a low tech visual rigged up with camera flash bulbs (actually a 'Magicube') and pins that we set off manually. Innovative at the time, it would have been much more effective with a later performance at night.
"My Favorite Things"is an all-time favorite of mine(pardon the pun),even though it comes from an old "musical"(The Sound of Music), i still love it. I haven't seen Sorny since he judged us at DCMidwest in 1978(can you imagine),but i think of him often,(he taught me for the better part of 5 years), and he is the reason why i always wanted to be a Kiltie.I'd love to see him again so i could shake his hand, thank him for making me the drummer i am today, and to yell "We Winna Be Dauntit!" together.

Where is Tom Sorensen? Btw, what is the name of this solo? It sounds like what Suncoast used in 85 for their solo....???

It must have been easy for Chiodo to do all that drum-to-drum......he could look at both drums at once!!!! ;-)
