  • On SSB the Adams will BLOW AWAY the S9! The S9 is a terrible drifter on SSB, worthless to me. On AM the knod does go to the S9. But dont get my started on the so called "top gun" processor thing. All it is is a thing to make the radio "swing" harder. It makes the finals toasty warm but gives the op an ego boost watching that thar' meter swangggg!!!

  • @TheZeke1974

The S-9 is still sold, ;-) Next project is a Cobra 138XLR for modification.

  • I have an old President Grant 858 chassis and the receiver is far better than any of the new stuff today. Its quiet and doesnt pick up the crap and noise like the newer radios..

  • @TheZeke1974

Indeed it's true. Newer CB's are mostly crap and a waste of money.

    Tnx for comment!

  • Hi, i have had both radios in my time, still got the Adams and that tells a storie, the S9 is total cheap rubbish, drifts all over the place, crap VFO and crammed with the cheapest componants you can find, DONT BUY A MAGNUM!!!!

    Great videos by the way.

  • Yes, the Adams is the best SSB cb-radio!

  • the magnum is a AM performer, known as one of the best cleanest loudest for am performance only.. SSB on the other hand.......well it will get u by. it drifts alot once warmed up as well on ssb..i dont know the Adams radio all tha well but im sure its not a AM performer like the s9

  • @TheZeke1974 Old rigs like the Adams will always sound cleaner than modern rigs, being narrow banded there is a noticeable absence of the white noise hiss present in the Magnum and similar wide band rigs.

That's the price you have to pay for the expanded coverage, although a good DSP add in like SGC, BHI or similar does a good job at reducing various types of interference, but makes an overpriced rig even more expensive taking you into "real" ham radio territory, price wise!

  • wow defynitly the magnum....

  • ADAMS WINS!!! I would much rather listen to the Adams. Not as much listener fatigue. I have done these tests as well......

  • agreed
