  • Why do you twist the black with the green? Also does that one have a on/off switch?

  • @FlatwoodsDairyLLC

shorting them trick the psu into thinking its plugged into a motherboard,

without it it wont turn on.

this cheap psu didnt have a switch, although i coulod have put a switch between those wire and it would have turned it on and off...

  • Rating on PSU's (i.e. 500W) is max/peak load from ALL voltages combined.

check the label to see the rating for 12v/5v etc separate

  • @fragwits

yeah, the 12v rail is the only one that is used by a charger.

i checked the 12v rail seperate,

but for my latest psu i'm using the 5v rail for a usb port...

  • excellent I mean great explanation !!!

  • @442paul Thats what I thought I did it last night and it worked I'm using a 250W psu from an old pc I just need to get my female connectors and wire it all up I tested it on my charger and everything works.

  • @fl0r1svdk

    yrah, i know.

i have an enermax one i use now.

but you'd be pretty hard up to find a charger that pulls anywhere near 430w.

the most powerful charger i know of is the thundertiger 1000w.

but i wouldn't trust a cheepo diy psu with it...

  • @442paul from sheap psu's you can if you are lukky get the haf of the rated powerrating max most of the time it is less
