Grand Star Rescue

This is the very first mission of the game, and you can see here that it's a pretty long one. You'll meet the Lumas, Rosalina, and...the other Lumas scattered about. Mario crash lands on a planet, which happens to be where Princess Rosalina lives. She grants Mario with the power to spin, and she sends him to destroy the machine sucking the power out of the nearby Grand Star.

As it turns out (after you finish the mission), the Grand Stars power the Comet Observatory, where Lumas congregate. Bowser has stolen almost all of its power and have suffocated the Lumas. This Grand Star will power the Observatory just enough so that the Lumas can feed off its energy and survive, though Mario would have to find six more Grand Stars over the course of the game, and all of them will be defended by either Bowser Jr. or Bowser himself.

I think the part of the mission between these two story points pretty much speaks for itself. Especially the giant Goomba.

@spongebob9831 You can visit the Gateway Galaxy again from the Comet Observatory. There should be a warp behind the spire from the Engine Room.

I think it's a real shame that the Giant Goomba does not appear in any other part in the game except for this one.
