The 40-year-old AC-130 is probably the most overworked piece of equipment in the U.S. arsenal. David Martin reports on why some say this propeller plane requires more maintenance than its worth.

  • the problem is the C-130 is a very old platform, they need to make an AC17, jet engines and a much newer frame to work with.

i think they should make a boeing 747 gunship, 5 105 cannons 10 40mm boffors AA cannons and maybe an A-10's 30mm cannon or 2? sounds like a beast! the AC-747 make it happen!

with the $50T of debt, not $14T like everyone says its much more then that...

  • @lookhowlongmyusernam The props are more fuel efficient and makes for a lower lowest speed... And I promise you, one 105 is PLENTY.

And I rather have five AC-130 then one AC-747. :)

  • @swertinge07 the 105 is more then plenty, but 5 is...bigger. haha

  • @tanner0079 haha, ya that was a joke that everyone seems to be taking very seriusly

  • @lookhowlongmyusernam haha funny i would like to see the plane that can take the recoil of five 105 mm cannons firing.

  • Was thinking this.. First time I've seen it confirmed. Poor Hercules :-/

Ps. Can barely find a single US army themed video without some fucking asshole claiming knowledge from having played a god damn video game. Modern Warfare hasn't taught anyone shit.

  • 3:01 NOPE!

  • i've been there. i've used it in Modern Warfare 2. :)

  • As much as there are those who want to retire this aircraft in favour of something more modern, the truth is that this is the best platform for this type of operation. Turbo prop engines are high-performance yet allow for slower cruising speeds and precise control of the aircraft during fire missions. The preference would be engine power plant upgrades, re-enforcing or replace existing fuselages, and improvement to their weapons systems. Like the A10, there is no substitute for this aircraft.

  • @lookhowlongmyusernam aw come on, let's just say 20 miniguns ;) just a storm of lead

  • It is OP

  • @MrHamza091 "If you are not ignorant," then you would know that countries we go to are already being "bullied" by stronger countries or insurgents because they aren't strong enough and cannot defend themselves. If you and your country are able to go into a country where warfare takes place within a city block characterized by a dense civilian population, and where insurgents have no uniforms and hide like cowards, and not inflict collateral damage, then show us how it's done.
