Part two (of three) of a trip down the Chicago Transit Authority's Yellow Line, shot from inside the train. This video was shot by myself during a September 2004 fantrip (chartered by the Central Electric Railfans' Association) commemorating the final days of overhead wire operation on the Yellow Line ("Skokie Swift"). The train was indeed operated under the wire using its trolley poles.

  • When did they ever stop to lower the trollty poles? Did they actually continue to roll and allow the pole to come off of the wire when coming into Crawford Ave?

  • 4000s could get up and move when they weren't having to stop every quarter mile or so!

  • 0:20 - 0:40 : The sound of traction motor whine and a 10" air whistle = CLASSIC!!
