New Yorkers were in for a treat at the weekend...With a traditional Korean parade through Manhattan's streets.
Our reporter Sarah Matheson got down there to check it out.
STORY:
American Koreans took to the streets of Manhattan on Saturday to celebrate their country's rich culture.
The 28th annnual parade was hosted by the Korean American Association of New York.
[Simok Lee, Korean American Association]:
"We have over 500,000 Korean people living in New York. Through this grand parade people can tell that the Korean economy is doing well.
The parade showcased traditional Korean dance and traditional instruments.
Thomas Rho has been in the Korean Special Forces for 10 years.
[Thomas Rho, Korean Special Forces]:
"I feel so great. I am so proud of this parade."
But it wasn't just Korean groups in the parade. A multitude of American marching bands lined the streets, including the Falun Dafa Divine Land marching band.
And what did the crowd think of the parade?
[Kent Forde, Irishman]:
"They are dressed in their traditional dress and they are showing off what back, in their country, of the way their style, things like that, you know."
Showing off or not, the old-school instruments like the ounla bells are pretty impressive.
