The most elegant and modern liner of its period.
Designed by the most famous architects, this beautifull ocean liner was destroyed by fire on February 9 th 1942 in New York

  • Normandie had 2 satutes, Peace in the Salle a Manger. La Normandie in the middle of the staircase connecting the Grand Salon & Fumoir.

  • @31051935 What a stunning video. What a remarkable, beautiful ship. the decor of every first class cabin was differently themed. Every trace of gold railing onboard was real gold! The large partition doors of the upper deck , when opened, gave a space from the gently undulating, first class staircase through to reception then the theatre of almost 200 meters! This ship threw the rule book out on ship design, and frankly, thank heavens. lovely work.

  • The last cabin seems so out of character for her. Le Fin must be a play on the idea that Normandie meant the end of all that Louis whatever crap. What a ship and what an age. A time when great ships could make money and be magnificent all at the same time.

  • Normandie. A very luxurious Liner. There was everything beautiful about her. The Grand Staircase. The Salle a Manger. The Grand Salon. The Winter Garden. Everything room spell beauty.

  • Don't ever talk to me about scrapping. I hate scrap merchants. By as long as I think about Ocean Liners, their lives & their interiors, I am at peace.
