@JapaneseModernist That's kinda a harsh comment don't you think? I've always seen heavy metal music as a distinct art form, especially when compared to most contemporary pop artists. By art form, I mean they write and compose songs for the sake of themselves, not to appeal to a mainstream audience. If they want to play CONCIEVED SORROW in a metal concert, then they by all means should. And besides, not all so-called metalheads are dense enough to not be able to appreciate such a wonderful song.

Yeah, this was perhaps one of their worst concerts imo, to the extent that Kyo apologised on twitter after about how bad it was.

The rest of the tour was very good from what i've seen.

@diabdia continuing my comment: regardless of which concert they play. However,as I said, they are in disadvantage point (even though I don't think they care) and when they are given the amazing oportunity of playing in such a huge festival, they should take the chance and make the most out of it (as far as making new fans is concerned). They have beautiful ballads but they are still mostly hard and screamy metal so they should make that very clear. I'm sure they did it though

@diabdia I think they have much more respect now than they did back then but still they are the newcomers from japan. DIR EN GREY is seen with a lot of prejudice by most people because of their look and nationality and even though there are a few people on the festival who can appreciate that kind of songs, unfortunately the majority only appreciate heavy and screamy songs. Actually, What I said should not be followed by them. DIR EN GREY must be themselves regardless of which concert

@JapaneseModernist I think the europeans/metalheads there finally appreciate Dir en grey now. They had a rough beginning in 05-06 when they first appeared in Europe, but I think now, they respect and admire the band. There are so many bands that have a one track mind, and here comes Dir en grey which defies and challenges their one track ways and goes all over the place, but still remaining in the realm of metal. That shows intelligence and diversity which is what the genre needs so badly.

@diabdia If that was the case I gotta give some credit for them. Still, when you have only 1 hour to show what you really are, even though CONCEIVED SORROW is a fantastic song and fits them perfectly, you have to understand that the festival is full of people that appreciate (mostly only) heavy and fast music so DIR EN GREY should take the chance and prove that they can do that too. Of course the rest of the setlist was like that but still, conceived sorrow is too intense for a festival

@ZeinW Did you read my comment? I said THAT SONG was not fitt for a HUGE metal festival when you are a small band trying to prove you have it. The rest of their setlist was fine
