  • And the guy at the rear was a Methodist

  • @footballgirl9998 Music IS politics. Look at the Anti-Abolitionist movement and black Gospel with all the secret messages about freedom in it. Look at the 60's. Music was very much about social activism -pro Sex, Drugs and Rock n' Roll, Youth Culture, anti war, Pro Unions, Ban the Bomb, Woman's Liberation, Civil Rights, Gay Rights. Think Bobby Dylan, Pete Seeger, Beatles, Stones, Velvet Underground. Not political? You've got to be kidding. And yes, Dixie Chicks were screwed.

  • the ramones should have listened to this

  • And the guy on his rear said "Oh Dear."

  • @TamarZucker And when it is pointed out that much of this music has a destructive message they claim "its just a song."

  • @mridontknow63 thats not the point its the story to deliver an idea

  • there once was a musical troop, a pickin' sing folk group, they sang the moutnain ballads and the folk songs of our laaand!

  • At one time a lot of young men were burning their draft cards protesting the Vietnam war. I think it was during the era that this song came out. I think the guy in the rear was confused.

  • @TamarZucker u missed the point. politics cause internal problems in bands.

  • @TamarZucker Bob Dylan banked on the politics, but wasn't political himself. He said it himself, that he's just an entertainer, nothing more.

  • @TamarZucker So, in other words...labor unions were not the way to go? Certainly seems that way today, though. The ones I met were all thungs and murderers.

  • @TamarZucker That is a very narrow view of music. Music CAN be political, or it can be totally without politics. That is up to the performer. But to say that music IS politics, is just a silly slogan. It is whatever you want it to be.
