Experiment 1: "Generation of Internal Solitary Waves by an Internal Wave Beam, Summer Bay of Biscay"

In this experiment, a realistic IWB hits the thermocline from below. While the parameters controlling the character of the IWB and the structure of the thermocline were chosen based on oceanic measurements at a time of observed ISW generation, none are generated in this simulation. - MITgcm used to study Internal Solitary Waves - Animation credit: N Grisouard, LEGI, UJF/CNRS/G-INP, BP 53, 38041 Grenoble Cedex 9, France
