Thats really cool! I did something very similar. It was called military tourism, but id say it was just an awesome trip to israel, for 7 days we learned all about what the israeli special forces do, and then we practiced it. we shot a ton of different guns, learned krav maga, threw grenades, jumped out of a plane, and even went through a few "practice" drills with paintball guns. It was an awesome experience if anybody else wants to try it, i highly recommend this company lionops.com

The size does not really matter unless the smaller opponent do not know how to strike and use his hips. Even if he is not big. He is faster because he has less muscle mass.
