@motopilot0919 - Tell the rider I'm glad he's back on the bike! I am not being sarcastic; remind him to look waaayyyy out front of him; the faster, the farther.... It works. Take a brief "notice" of the obstacles (big rocks, pucker bushes, etc...) 60 - 75 yards ahead of you, "let your body move the bike", but don't stay "focused" on the shit right in front of you!
For reference; Chuck Miller (Baja 1000 winner) and Cliff Thomas (Barstow to Vegas Overall Winner) taught me this stuff years ago.
I want to give a "tip of the hat" to the race promoters! What an awesome response!
Never trusted myself on the "Bomb Runs" Insane as it sounds, I raced in Baja in the mid-1970s; never had a "head-on" with a "local" on the race course; loved the thrill of racing completely alone for 200 miles straight (4-5 hours), but put me on the line for a "Bomb Run" in the So. Cal. desert? Hated it! Felt good leading, but had to look WAY OUT FRONT and pray!
Wow, I'm going to be 50 next year and was debating the whether to do 1 lap or 2, I figured the 1 lappers wouldn't be so looney, I guess not. I got my own ride on that helicopter on Nov. 4, 2009. If your conscious tell them to take a hike and go in the ambulance, my 7 minute ride was $9600.00.
