(May 22)This is AP Sports Thursday.The Lakers overcame a 20-point deficit in the 3rd quarter, and went on to beat the Spurs 89-85 in game one of the Western Conference Finals.Regular season MVP Kobe Bryant was held to a mere 2 points at halftime. But he scored 14 in the fourth quarter, and finished with 27 points.The Spurs were limited to 13 points in the final quarter of play.San Antonio's Tim Duncan was game-high with 30. He also pulled down 18 rebounds.---------------------------Brandon Webb was denied in his bid to become a 10-game winner Wednesday night.Webb's Diamondbacks were beaten 3-1 by Florida in a matchup of two first-place teams.Florida scored its' first run on a suicide squeeze bunt by Matt Treanor. Cody Ross followed with a homer.Stephen Drew hit his sixth homer for Arizona, but that's all the offense they could they could generate.SOT: Micah Owings-----------------Vladimir Guerrero belted two home runs as the Angels got by the Blue Jays 4-3.It was the 34th career multihomer game for Guerrero.The Angels outfielder came in batting .260 with just four homers, his lowest career totals after 45 games.-------------------------------------In a driving rain, Edwin van der Sar batted away Nicolas Anelka's drive on the 14th penalty kick to give Manchester United its third Champions League title in Moscow Wednesday.United also won in 1968 and 1999.Cristiano Ronaldo had scored on a well-timed header in the 26th minute for Manchester United, his 42nd goal of the season.Frank Lampard tied the score in the 45th minute for Chelsea.________________, the Associated Press, with AP Sports Thursday.
