On January 27th, 2011, Amir Baradaran infiltrated the Louvre Museum to
permanently install his 52-second performance streaming live over Leonardo da
Vinci's Mona Lisa painting. Using an Augmented Reality (AR) Smartphone
application, Frenchising Mona Lisa seeks to provoke notions of national
identity, iconography, and curatorial practices within museums.

Join the FutARism movement and experience "Frenchising Mona Lisa" on your

  • For all we know, it's not even the original.

  • What did Amir exactly do ?

  • if leonardo didnt finish it who did?

  • Leave the Mona Lisa alone you monsters, you are the reason she only has a sweet-half-smile over a full smile!!! Yes its the enigmatic nature of Leonardo's work and the Mona Lisa's journey that has made it so popular. Think about it, Leonardo is known for his beautiful portrayal of the female form just like Botticelli (most people haven't heard of him) and Leonardo was like his contemporaries such as Raphael (but most people don't even know any of his work)

  • such a cool guy who has stolen the painting!

  • Security should have been so great that it should have never been touched

  • You know? Being stolen must have helped it become more popular because it seems like they didn't give a hoot about security before hand if all this stuff happened to it... I don't like the fact it had to be restored . I think it hurts the value.

  • @cars675 its some type of websight that shows a video that he maid showing the mona lisa put on a french flag.

  • I do not understand the last one with the iPhone or whatever can someone explain to me

  • why so much fuss over a copy? You don't believe its the "ONE" now do you? lol
