Being in the back seat leaves the skier no option but to do a lot of work to force their skis to change direction--hence all the twisting and tipping of the upper body. Better to be standing centered over the skis where they will more readily make turns given a little tilting side to side. See my video and book for more about expert skiing technique.

This person is "in the back seat"--not balanced over the center of the skis--and is initiating the turn by dipping the shoulder and twisting the shoulders/ torso. Not a great image for a "lesson."

the person at 142 sure is steering his/her skis alot

Before analyzing a skier, the equipment being used should be known. The skier in the video is skiing on narrow, stiff, GS skis, not "fat boys". Consequently in order to keep the tips up one must be in the back seat. I agree that it would be better to be centered over the skis if the skis allowed such a position.
