A lease is just that, a lease...almost as if someone "borrowed" it. When you lease a beat to someone, you legally own ALL residual rights to that piece of music therefore, you can sell it to numerous people. If one of those artist make money off the song that they made with your instrumental, you are entitled to royalties.

On the other hand, if you sell a beat exclusively, it CANNOT be resold by you to another artist, but whoever purchased it from you CAN resell it. This is the reaso

  • I NEED SOME HELP i have a few questions, first of all i like the video but I need someone to elaborate a little more. How exactly do you LEASE a beat? is that like whoever buys it pays u a certain amount a month? under CONTRACT? and how about Copyright? wouldnt it be smart to do that to all of your work? and say u sell a beat to someone and they go big..does the producer get RESIDUAL INCOME because they were the ones who made the beat?

  • @LMBHRecordz i agree! lol i was dumb like dat a while ago,now i sell industry type beats 4 da low low...

  • Good Advice dawg

  • @LMBHRecordz yeah it is, but not when ur famous ... storch sells his beats for over 50,000$ .. how bout that lol
