there is no better addition to a pond than a good biological filter. the filter on the bottom of your pond is of minimal benefit to your pond. an external filter will out do any u.v light , or bog without a bio filter. bogs cant break down the organic matter. thats the job of bacteria which turns ammonia to accessable nutrients which the plants can absorb. the biofilter does natures job in a controlled enviorment. the more media your filter holds the larger the bacterial colony. make sense?

you should have like 75% plant coverage and you dont need pumps unless you have alot of fish

How did you make a pond? it seems so hard! like how did u start out ? did u use those bricks first then put the liner in?

If you just opened your pond for the season, it may just need time to circulate and run its course. I add pond bacteria to mine and it always help. I seem to get algae for about a week after I first open my pond, but it clears up. The fish will help by eating it, too. Beautiful pond!

yeah most of these guys are right . after a uvc light you should make sure to add aquatic plants. lilies, water iris, water hyacenth, lizard tail, horse tail, cat tails, targo. the plants you use will compete with algae for the nutrients in the water and will clear it up. also if you have an inline uvc filter check to see how fast the water is travelling through it. it should move slowly so it has time to kill the maximum amount of algae. hope this helps you
its all about letting it do its job naturally what you can do is divert the water into a bog system large enough to grow plants that balance the water, for example on my pond i desigend a bio filter system, kinda like a salt water filter, its complicated to explain by e-mail... or the best solution for you is like i stated a bog-planter.... look up aqua-ponics and you will get the concept.

Your pond looks great nice and clear. How did you get it that way. I also ordered that beneficial bacteria from an online store hoping that will work. Im from NY and there is a japenese maples hanging over the pond and alot of the leaved fell in there. I tried to get most of it out but the water is still not as clear as i want it to be.
