This guy repeats some classic misconceptions about McNamara. McNamara's stance that Vietnam was "un-winnable" was based on his opinions that: 1.) No stable South Vietnamese government existed before of after Diem, 2.) Ground incursions near Hanoi might trigger a nuclear war with China. 3.) JLB lacked the political clout to carry out both an expanded Asian war and his Great Society agenda.

King was just an idealist populist with no real political strategy, which is why he's now dead.

"Now that he's... he's dead, um.." He seems to be speaking more of Obama and Michael Jackson than Robert.

McNamara didn't admit much. He resigned he claims when he realized the war was not winnable so continuing the war was just murder. Most believe that he knew the war was not winnable way before he resigned. I believe he said that the war was wrong only because we could not win not that the reasons behind the war were wrong. He was incredibly two faced.

i would recommend that anyone interested in the history of the cold war, vietnam and just war in general that they watch a documentary named "the fog of war". It reveals some of McNamara's experiences as secretary of defence and is very very interesting.
