Antoine Dodson's Commercial About Sex Offender Tracker (See description)

This is nothing but exploitation of the gullible and sex offenders using disinformation to make a quick buck. It's doesn't exactly work like they make it appear.

The columnist has done a pretty good job of showing why this App marketing is misleading, except for one thing: Where the App got the information from, supposedly from the " National Sex Offender Registry." The problem with that is twofold: A) NSOR has a requirement of anyone who wants a address, they must signin, and these Apps have programmatically bypassed NSOR's security block to obtain all registrant information; B) Much of the information provided by registrants to either the federal or state governments, is protected by Federal privacy laws. That means those official government sites are Prohibited from using the information except for their internal purposes (which includes publishing it on NSOR and State registries). Government officials have failed in their duty to protect the information by having a computer system that can be accessed in violation of federal privacy laws; in that respect the information is not public information, instead it is being secondarily distributed.
