I sprayed isoprophyl to the usb port and cleaned it with a cotton bud. It has stop doing the possessed charging noise and charging normally but now the computer wont detect the mass storage. I got really frustrated so I bent the sucker down with another USB cable and now everything works. But I know this wont last long so thanks for the video I will just buy the part from ebay and replace it.

My friend has had the automatic charging without charging problem for 2 months and now he has received a new phone from Samsung. Eventually the usb port shorted and damaged his main board. I have had my phone for 5 months and it is now doing the same thing. The phone is having a mind of its own.

@MrSpywhite got my usb flex cable today, and i replaced it - had some mild corrosion on it but not too bad. Anyway I replaced it and so far so good, phone seems to be working as normal. So anybody else out there that had the same issue that I did, this is how to fix it.

17:03 I miss that sound!
You're a magician, I wish you'd repair my sgs2!

@Timothywilliamewing interesting, so putting the new battery in on the broken phone damaged the new battery? I guess i'll be careful not to use the new battery for mine until I replace the usb flex. What about the other way around, putting the old over-voltage battery in the phone after its repaired, do you think that would damage the usb flex? i'd be curious if it is only the battery that is the problem

@MrSpywhite Thanks, just ordered a new battery and usb flex cable off ebay, so soon I'll try this. My only fear is the buttons and if they come out when I open it if it will be tricky to get them to stay in when I'm putting it back together

thanks for this video, much appreciated. I just changed mine due to having the over voltage problem, before i did i changed my battery and it was ok for a while but then came back, chaged the usb flex and it was still over voltage where the battery had been damaged from the old usb flew, changed to new battery now and all OK
Do you just pop the ribbon cables back into place?
How about the wire that was connected to the USB board? How did you get that back on?

@cam3ronk You gently press the ribbon cables back onto their connectors, do the same for the wire.

Some salt water got in the usb port in mine and now the battery health shows as over-voltage it drains in 6 hours. If i turn the phone off it immediately tries to turn back on but i get a battery error icon and it wont turn on unless the charger is plugged in. Everything on the phone is working perfectly except this battery over-voltage, sometimes it thinks the charger is plugged in when it isn't, also the port looks a bit rusty. Do you think a new usb flex cable will solve my issue?

@cyrusscaboose Sounds like the battery and the USB cable are damaged. Replace the flex cable and the battery and you should be golden. You can find both of those items on Ebay for fairly cheap.

Hi, I was just wondering where you got your replacement USB board.

@nikkirorynikki I bought it off ebay. Search for "Galaxy i9100 parts" on ebay and it should come up. It's not an expensive part, just make sure you buy a new one that says it's OEM (a genuine Samsung part). That's if, you're going to replace it.
