This presentation was initially intended to be delivered at the January 2012 BroNYCon, but was delayed due to technical issues. As promised, I've now put it online instead. To preserve the idea of a live rendition, I did this in one take and only one recording, so please forgive the screw-ups, of which there are likely many. And while we're on the subject, apologies for the terrible jokes, too.

Some legal blurbage (not that this would prevent anyone from suing me if they felt it was necessary, but here goes): unless otherwise noted -- and I've tried to cite appropriately -- the images used in this presentation are frames taken from the show My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, which is the copyrighted property of Hasbro, Inc. I assert no ownership over said images, and use them -- and all other images -- here solely for non-profit educational purposes, as permitted under the fair use provisions of US Copyright Law outlined in 17 U.S.C. § 107. If you feel anything is improper, please get in touch with me using the contact details given at the end of the presentation. Cheers.

  • I like this video, but it has a comple of little flaws. The Unicorns as example get mention in... Ceasar "Commentarii de bello Gallico". In one of his chapters (some say that this one he didn't write himself) he describe the animals and the landscape of "Germania". And there you got a story about horned horses (besides a story, how to hunt elk, which could only work for people living in a big city ^^).

  • Brony tears were shed :'(

  • Well done. I tip my hat to you, sir. That Bellerophon line had me in stitches.

  • Good job on this presentation! I enjoyed it immensely.

  • "Furthermore, I think Carthage must be destroyed" Cato the Elder ended his speeches with that quote. Great job dude!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @myersa80 religious sense.

  • I was following you all the way up to the last 5 minutes.

The hell was all that self-defeatist justification? Self-confidence man! Do you have it!? This was not silly, the subject material was never silly to begin with.

*Of course* "it's a good thing", I think bronies know that. It pains me to think you thought of us anything less.

But I see what you've done. It's an argumentative disarming strategy, conceding to a (false) point in the hopes of convincing us with the latter point.

  • Your Name should be David Attenbrony!

  • I'd have thrown money at you if I could :P

  • @myersa80 In some versions of the myth, Medusa(originally a pretty woman) was a priestess of Athena(who was born fully formed from Zeus' head). Medusa became impregnated by Poseiden when they snuck away to be intimate in Athena's own temple.

That disrespectful act was what got her turned into a monster in the first place. Then Perseus comes along and lops off her head causing Pegasus to be born from her blood/head. Also some versions of the gorgons had bat wings. Hope that helps.
