Haven't you noticed that oil prices sky rocket at the pump immediately to follow commodity prices and yet when those same prices drop the price at the pump takes forever to fall. All of this anger and ignorance over things most people don't understand. Speculators CANNOT inflate commodity prices in a cooperative way. Market participants are INIMICAL towards each other. It's a zero sum game. If I guess that Oct Oil will reach a certain price I have to be right when the contract comes due otherwise the correction to the spot price will kill me. In other words the markets can't be manipulated. What Soros is talking about is not specific to speculation...
