Growing a Pine (especially a longleaf) in a pot is like growing a bass in a bowl but worse. The tree can’t develop a tap root when it’s young which is BAD. A pot makes a pine develop a root system that is very unnatural and it will never correct itself once it’s replanted. The wind will throw it to the ground at some point.
