The YES on prop. 8 ignoramuses

The pro-proposition 8 people feel they need to protect 'traditional marriage' in order to provide a father and a mother for our children.

Do these people realize that 'marriage' doesn't have one single thing to do with children and how they are raised, whether they prosper better when they have a mom and a dad? Same-sex marriage is about two people, not three or more, or between animals and people as O'Reilly likes to claim.

Two same sex persons, who decide they want to form a union, and one or both already have children, would these children be better off with just a single parent, or as wards of the state? Or raised by this same sex couple?

Should a same sex couple be denied the right to adopt a child when it has been shown that a child is just as well off being raised within a same-sex marriage as within a traditional marriage, or should this child remain as a ward of the state and never realize the loving care (s)he may receive within a loving relationship?

Sonya Eddings Brown (protectmarriage.com) elaborates that on the last page of the decision, the judges lined out the words 'between a man and a woman', which changed 'marriage' for everyone.

So does this mean that all marriages in California are now different from what they were at the beginning of 2008? In what way are they now different?

Just what is it these people really want to accomplish?
a. Heterosexuals are better, worse, or just different when it comes to civil rights?
b. It annoys them that those two people half-way across the country are 'married'?
c. They want to reserve the word 'marriage' just for themselves?
d. They are homophobic and believe that their marriage is now worth less because of those two guys down the street who are also married?
e. They claim that they are willing to give gays the same rights as they have, except for the word 'marriage'. Well thank you kindly, but that right is not yours to give, homosexuals are already guaranteed equal rights under the constitution.
f. They do not realize that same-sex marriage is not equal to gay-marriage.
g. They don't realize that 'marriage' is usually a two-step process. The civil ceremony usually comes first, and their god has nothing to do with that, then there is the religious ceremony, where each denomination can decide on their own whether they want to perform the marriage rites prescribed by their religious belief.

Sexual orientation, like race, national origin and sex should not be discriminated against, because these qualities are not choices that an individual makes.

In conclusion, is a child better raised by two same-sex parents, or by two same sex union members?

If your church/religion does not condone same-sex marriage, let them go to a church that will.

But marriage in a civil ceremony has absolutely nothing to do with your religion/belief/morals. It is for the purpose of civil matters, financial, economic and personal. Religion should stay out of this part of the 2-part process of marriage.

Also, marriage ceremony has nothing to do with children. Making children is a separate ceremony, usually performed in private.
