Do us all a favor - when posting rare footage, especially footage of someone as interesting as Kerouac, don't overdub your own reedthin and shambling voice over the damn sound track. How self-absorbed to think we want to hear YOU rather than the person we wanted to see. Pretty poor reading, by the way. Sucked all the power right out of it...

Yup...the road is romantic, especially when you are young. But sooner or later you must choose between some sort of compromises or wind up lost on some urban street somewhere.

it's so strange how your journeys ended much like the cultural revolution of the sixties, the ride just ended and you found yourself back within mainstream culture

whats the music?

"The valor of angels" I like that, cool poetry.

I haven't heard much of Kerouac. Cool stuff. Thanks for sharing. :)
Read out loud prose poems, essays, novels and Kerouac to each other around camp fires, in the van, by rivers, falls, ocean beaches, mountains, city streets; did it while high on drugs and stone cold sober by the first light of morning; read with or without our poor attempts at playing jazz guitar. I don't regret doing it. I met so many people, young and old, in towns and cities, who like me were searching for some way to reject the American dream, someway to live free of The Man...

I was on the road for a couple of years, between 1966 to 68. I had an old VW bus which me and my then girl friend lived in. We travelled throughout Canada and the USA, did dope, screwed, drank, wrote bad poetry, meditated, worked at odd jobs to make some gas money and enough for food. We crashed countless rock and jazz concerts.
