I'm such a big fan of this horse, i think his turn of foot is amazing! I think this is the horse that will drive Goldikova to the limit at Ascot.. But on the other hand we could totally overhype him and she will make mincemeat of him... But i dont think so.. i think it will be very close and a total battle, this horse has won too many times now to be overhyped...
I think it's a down right, crying shame. For fan's of racing. That they will likely never get to see Goldikova and Canford Cliffs on the same racetrack together at a mile. Goldikova's record speaks for itself. She's clearly considered the best miler, male or female, in the world. But I truly believe that Canford Cliffs is the one colt that would make Peslier have to drag out Goldikova's absolute best. I think it would be the greatest, and most anticipated turf mile race. At least of the decade.
Every time I watch the replay of this race. I shake my head in amazement. In 2009, Rip Van Winkle stole first run in the race and ran off from Paco Boy. In 2010, Rip Van Winkle stole first run in the race again. But it's just incredible how easily Richard Hughes hand rode Canford Cliffs right on by Rip Van Winkle in this race with the wire looming. You know Ryan Moore had to be frustrated as hell on this day. LOL.
Canford Cliffs is just incredible. RVW is just not going to be a top miler in 2010. Not with Canford Cliffs, Dick Turpin, Goldikova, and Paco Boy all racing over mile. O'Brien should really consider stretching RVW back out to 10 furlongs. The 09' Coral-Eclipse is still the best race of his career. Even in defeat. He made STS dig deep that day, and finished well clear of Conduit. I think RVW will fare better at 10 furlongs. Because the "milers" division is just too tough for him in 2010. JMO.
@Emilybacon91 well you certainly covered all options!

What a great renewal it was and once more, Canford Cliffs came out on top.
