....ok ...i brought this one back up at Day's request...i originally put it together for the Sculpture Dept.'s reunion about a year back......and sadly ..hardly anyone of my generation showed up....most married, moved away, kids, or jobs,etc............but ....to clarify what is going on in it.......these were a few of my wacky performance pieces i would subject my classmates to behold or participate in......the blinfolded one was my attempt to simulate the IRAN Hostage Affair of '80(?).......just kidding!!!...it does look that way , though!!!.....it was really a combination of things....1)...a way to break out of the monotony of staring at objects in critiques for hrs...... and instead...have a viceral experience...2)...explore the surreal world of visual sensory deprivation...and how our brains will switch to their inner movie screens....and visualize things based on audio and tactile cues....and...3)..... most likely...i didn't have anything cool , smart, or well-made to show!!!...plus it was interesting to take it outside ....and wonder what people driving by might be thinking!!!....and keep in mind this was very pre-911......older people would remember the Iran incident.though...who knows......nice footage of ol' Broad St......yu can see how the north side of Broad was a complete shit-hole war zone...and marked the edge of CARVER......the then violent drug ghetto....weird shit went down over there and we all knew better than to go too deep toward that way......funny cause i never knew what Carver looked like back near the highway till about 10 yrs. ago...when it got gentrified..and now i visit friends there all the time...VCU did change alot of things for the better, i guess..........and then we have the tour around the 1st floor Mad House of 1st year students...probably....it was late at night...but people would work there all night....and it looks more tidy than usual...it must've been early in the semester....anyways...fun to see ol' faces back when they were young!!!...ENJOY!!
