Here's a clip from the final segment of the network's early morning news program, helmed at the time by Forrest Sawyer & Faith Daniels with Steve Baskerville doing weather.
After the news, a community affairs show produced by the station would air, similar in format to other
programming aired on several other of the local channels around the 6 AM hour. The local news program, "AM Houston" would air an hour later for several more years, but was moved up to occupy the 6 AM timeslot before the end of the decade.
Great clip. Thanks for posting.
The CBS Early Morning News endures to this day as the CBS Morning News. It airs as a half=hour broadcast at various times across the country, depending on the local affiliate's schedule. In Miami, for instance, it airs at 4:30 a.m. and is followed by two hours of local news.
The program currently has one anchor, who handles news, weather, and sports reports. (I seem to remember that the show still had a weatherman as late as 1999, when I started watching.)

Thanks for posting this. I always get a kick out of 1980s news graphics. I remember back then when these graphics that are now cheezy were cutting edge. LMAO
