Taeniacara candidi male, physically fertilising the eggs...

I have kept and bred Taeniacara candidi for the last 2 years, they are a facinating fish that i have spawned on numerous occassions, after 50+ spawnings i thought i had seen it all but this one has really made me excited. As i viewed the tank i knew they were spawning because of the way the male was sitting across the blocked up entrance of the females chosen cave.
I though i was seeing things as the male swam forward aimed his vent at the entrance and squirted his milt into the cave entrance, i quickly grabbed my camera for a repeat performance and the male didnt disapoint!! this is one of my shorter videos but shows the male fertilising the eggs diirectly, this is a groudbreaking video taken by myself, Steven Chester(UK) committee member of the British cichlid association and dedicated breeder of soft water species..
