Well..................... its day 2

A short overview of public transportation. A visit to a historical castle and of course dinner and a show. The cab drivers are snakes so unless you want to pay way to much for a ride use the trains... they are a few lira for a red token and the buses are cheap but sometimes confusing because there are a lot of them. Cab drivers refused us and we them.... when we insisted they turn the meters on and they didn't.

You may visit the castle by bus from Taksim Square or take a train part of the way. If you like that sort of thing the castle is fun because there are no safety police or moron fences.

Rumelihisarı (Rumelian Castle) is a fortress located in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul, Turkey, on a hill at the European side of the Bosporus. It gives the name of the quarter around it. It was built by the Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II between 1451 and 1452, before he conquered Constantinople. The three great towers were named after three of Mehmed II's viziers, Sadrazam Çandarlı Halil Pasha, who built the big tower next to the gate, Zağanos Pasha, who built the south tower, and Sarıca Pasha, who built the north tower.

  • Haha!!! I was about to say something about the lack of railing at the castle. Yep you just know in America there would have to be padding and railing and lighting galore. A friend of mine went to Istanbul and said the street hustle was INSANE! You cant walk down the street with out people hassling you to buy rugs or go to their restaurant.Your experience dosent seem as bad.

Great video! Really beautifully shot and edited well. Your experience making videos is shining through!

  • @edtomorrow Darwin fence

  • How expensive is the food there?

  • @lisaswetz1 It seemed about half of the price in Japan if that helps. 100TL for a real nice dinner for two and booze at the Izakaiya place. A nice lunch for 60TL at a nice place and 25TL for a good breakfast for two. Its cheap if you want to just get a bread thing in the morning or a cheap lunch or dinner is say 30TL for two. That was all around the tourist areas maybe cheaper in a rough neighborhood if you are brave. I stayed in a shady neighborhood and the local shops were a bit cheaper.

  • awsome video

  • what's the song that plays on 04:12 ??

  • the music when you're climbing the steps of the fort is so beautiful and haunting at the same time...it's as if, you were getting ready to jump of the fort..lol..blame it on my crazy imagination that is always on an overdrive..lol..i've watched too many movies.

  • omg that castle is epic ! your videos make me hungry :D

  • gotta love that intro music

  • AWESOME, TODD! AWES!

  • @gerem1991 Yup

  • @gerem1991 Naaa we are average I suppose. It depends on what you define as a lot of money. To me 100 lira is a lot of money. We planned and saved for this 5 day trip so if I had a lot of money I would have stayed for a month.

  • Todd another beautiful video thank you i was realy scared you wouldt fall almost with walkin filming in the castle come next time in the spring or the summer to Istanbul the beautiful weather conditions will give your video's better colorfull background and please dont get me wrong if i say you saw maybe only 50% of Istanbul so you are welcome again,(hoscakal :) take care bye

  • @TubaBuddha So cool! I hope to see much of the world when I inherit, and Turkey is one of them. I think the region I want to go to is Capadocia, where they live in the mountains, very old and cool.
