  • No worries! Your instruments sound very interesting. I am hoping to buy a baroque flute soon as a result of getting this flute refurbished & playing baroque music on it!

  • The hardest thing about this fingering system is remembering to put G sharp key ON for G and take it OFF for G sharp. It's easier to learn new fingerings than to always remember to do this!!

  • It's called Richard Carte's chart of fingerings and trills for his 1867 System flute" in the list of facsimile fingering charts

  • Sorry I keep trying to post it! If u search 1867 system flutes the first result should be oldflutes and a fingering chart for 1867 system is on their site

  • Thank you MrJamesAlto! Here's link to a fingering chart for the 1867 system flute.

  • Thank you all for your positive comments. I'll keep working at this flute as I love the sound and the challenge of learning the fingering system!

  • I tried to send you the address of a French URL with a picture of an 1867 C bass, but kept getting an error message. Is there an address I can send that to?

  • For my three instruments, see J. Amer. Mus. Inst. Soc XIII 89-106 (1987), Fig. 3, 4, 5.

  • Sorry about the e-address mixup. I was inadvertently on my 15-year old son's page, and it got his Pokémon address on my message. My address is Tootlepipes@aol.com.

I see it still did it. SWorry.

  • I have three 1867's: concert flute, piccolo and alto flute, which are my regular performing instruments. The piccolo is cocuswood, the other two are sterling silver. Now if I could only get a C bass to match!

  • Very nice playing ...I have one of these old flutes, but the mechanism is wrecked ! As regards fingering there is a chart in Langey's flute tutor, but that is probably now out of print.
